Snapping#

The item transformation set of tools Translate, Rotate, Scale, Transform, offer quite a few different ways to snap items and manipulator offset/pivot when in offset/pivot edition mode.

Items and manipulator offset/pivot can be snapped to arbitrary surfaces or snapped on a user space grid or a user defined value.

Snap to surface#

To snap the item or the manipulator offset/pivot on an arbitrary surface hold S and click on the surface you wish to snap on. It is also possible to align the orientation of items to the normal of the surface by enabling Align To Normal option in the Tools Options.

Snap to vertex#

To snap the item or the manipulator offset/pivot on a vertex hold V and click on the vertex of a surface. The item or the manipulator offset/pivot will be snapped to the closest vertex found in the search radius area defined by the option Snap Distance.

This value define the size in pixel of the search area (displayed as a square in the middle of the manipulator) that is used to find closest vertices. It is also possible to modify the Snap Distance by holding V and Middle Button drag.

Snap to grid#

To snap the item or the manipulator offset/pivot on the grid hold Ctrl when manipulating the gizmo or enable the Snap Enabled option in the Tool Options. When manipulating the gizmo, it will be snapped to the grid defined by Snap Increment option in the Tool Options.

Snap to value#

To snap the item or the manipulator offset/pivot on the value hold Ctrl when manipulating the gizmo or enable the Snap Enabled option in the Tool Options. When manipulating the gizmo, it will be snapped to the value defined by Snap Increment option in the Tool Options.
